Making Fabric Flowers

Making fabric flowers

First cut a length of fabric, the length can be any size depending on the size of the flower.

Next at one end of the fabric make a hem and stitch

Next cut the material to make a cone and sew down the length of it making sure the needle starts stitching after the hem and then turn the material so the pattern is on the outside

Once the material has been turned out the right way, take one strand of cotton from the wider end and start to pull gently being careful not to break the cotton.  Once the material starts to bunch up the material will start to curl.

Once you have bunched up the fabric as much as you can it will begin to take shape (apologies for the photograph)

A clearer end result.  Then just put a few stitches in to hold the flower in place and add a button in the centre if you wish to.

  2. Thanks Denise, I have to admit I tried one tutorial once online and my end result turned out an absolute mess, nothing like the photograph showed. I went back to basics on the tutorial, however with my dyslexia what makes sense to me often does not make sense to other people hence breaking it down to little short explanations.
